video clips in larger-sized windows or full-screen
without the degradation in speed and picture quality
usually associated with software motion video.

Key features of the MediaBurst Movie option include:

o Full-screen video at up to 30 frames per second
      (fps)
o Smooth scaling of the video image for better
      picture quality

  USING MEDIABURST MOVIE WITH OS/2
  ________________________________

If you are using a supported video mode, MediaBurst
Movie option runs automatically, and improves the
speed and picture quality of the video clip.

  USING MEDIABURST MOVIE WITH WIN-OS/2
  ____________________________________

The MediaBurst Movie option also works with
WIN-OS/2*. However, you must first purchase and
install a video application program, such as "Video
for Windows 1.1" or similar software. To use Video
acceleration under WIN-OS/2, you must run the
PPINIT.EXE program from the WIN-OS/2 Program Manager.
This file is located in the \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM
  directory. To run this program:

  1. Select FILE from the Program Manager Menu.
  2. Select RUN.
  3. Type \OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM\PPINIT.EXE, and
     select OK.

You are now ready to use the Windows video
applications from the WIN-OS/2 Program Manager.

WARNING: You must run your Windows video
applications from the same Program Manager session
that has the PPINIT.EXE program started. If you do
not run the Windows video applications from this same
Program Manager session, video acceleration will not
be enabled. To ensure that the PPINIT.EXE program is
running, do not attempt to run the Windows video
  programs from your OS/2 desktop.

                                          Page 12

NOTE: Under certain circumstances, the PowerPlay
Control utility will not work properly when

         the utility's minimize button behavior.
         To do this:

         1. Display the pop-up menu for the seamless
PowerPlay Utility by pressing mouse button

         5. Close the Settings notebook for the
             seamless PowerPlay utility.

When you start the utility, it will be
displayed as an icon on the OS/2 desktop.
Select the PowerPlay utility icon and press
Enter to display the window. The PowerPlay
         utility will now work properly.

The following WIN-OS/2 settings have been found to be
  useful for sound cards:

                                          Page 13

           HW_TIMER = ON
           IDLE_SENSITIVITY = 100

  ERROR MESSAGES
  ______________

MESSAGE 1: The PowerPlay driver was not loaded
because there is not enough video memory in this
  display mode.

PROBLEM: PowerPlay driver fails to load during
initialization because there is not enough video

                                          Page 14

memory remaining for the driver to use in the
  selected display mode.

SOLUTION: Change to a different display mode, for
  example 800X600X64K colors.

MESSAGE 2:The PowerPlay driver was not loaded because
another session is using the MediaBurst Option
  hardware.

There are two potential problems that can cause this:

PROBLEM 1: The PM PowerPlay driver has been
      loaded.

      SOLUTION: Perform these steps:
      1. Close the seamless PowerPlay application that
was loaded when the PowerPlay driver failed
          to load.
      2. Close all other PowerPlay applications that
          are active.
      3. Restart the seamless PowerPlay application.
PROBLEM 2: A seamless session already has
PowerPlay loaded. This can be verified by
running the PowerPlay utility. The utility will
display an error message if the PowerPlay driver
      is not present.

                                          Page 15

SOLUTION: There are two ways to resolve this
      problem:
o Close the seamless session that has PowerPlay
loaded; then start the PowerPlay application
          that you want to use.
o Change the Settings notebook for the seamless
PowerPlay application to disable the SEPARATE
          SESSION setting.
          1. Display the pop-up menu for the seamless
              PowerPlay session by pressing mouse
              button 2.
          2.  Select the arrow to the right of OPEN;
              then select SETTINGS.
          3. Select SESSION.
          4. Deselect the checkbox next to SEPARATE
              SESSION.

NOTE: This will only work if the
seamless session that has the PowerPlay
driver loaded does not require a separate
              session.

MESSAGE 3: The current hardware configuration does
  not support SVGA.

PROBLEM: The VESA SVGA BIOS extension and DMQS files
were not updated before attempting to install the

MESSAGE 4: The PowerPlay driver is not installed.

There are two causes of this problem:

PROBLEM 1: The PPINIT.EXE program has not been
     started.

SOLUTION: Run the PPINIT.EXE program from the
WIN-OS/2 Program Manager, and then restart the
program from the same Program Manager session.

PROBLEM 2: You are attempting to run in an
unsupported video mode, such as 640X480X16777216.

SOLUTION: Change to a supported video mode. For
instructions, refer to "SELECT RESOLUTION SUPPORTED
BY MEDIABURST OPTION" on page 10.

Enhanced Local Bus Graphics IBM OS/2 2.11 Device
  Driver Diskette.

SOLUTION: Refer to "UPDATE THE VESA SVGA BIOS
