Installation Instructions for PS/2 TV Software
==============================================
1. Place the install diskette into a diskette drive.
2. Make the diskette drive the current drive.
(i.e. A:)
3. Type INSTALL and follow the on screen prompts.
NOTE: If you install the program files to a directory
other than C:\PSTV, substitute that directory where
C:\PSTV is referenced below.
4. If running OS/2:
A. If you did not have the installation program update the
CONFIG.SYS file, make the following changes to the file:
a. Modify the LIBPATH variable to add the new directory where
the OS/2 version of PS/2 TV was installed.
b. If the CONFIG.SYS does not include a setting for IOPL add
the following line to the CONFIG.SYS:
IOPL=YES
If the CONFIG.SYS has an IOPL statement but it is set to NO,
change it to YES.
c. Add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=C:\PSTV\PPSTVOS2.SYS
This will install the PS/2 TV OS/2 physical device driver.
d. If you are using OS/2 version 2.x and you use DOS or OS/2
Windows sessions, you will need to install the PS/2 TV
virtual device driver. Add the following line to your
CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=C:\PSTV\VPSTVOS2.SYS
WARNING: Do not install VPSTVOS2.SYS under OS/2 version 1.x.
VPSTVOS2.SYS or for that matter any OS/2 version 2.x virtual
device driver installed under OS/2 version 1.x may hang your
system.
e. Run shutdown then reboot. This will allow the changes made to
your CONFIG.SYS to take effect.
B. Add the PS/2 TV application to your desktop.
a. If you are running OS/2 Version 1.3, add a new program to
a group menu of your choice with the following properties.
Program title: PS/2 Television
Path and File name: C:\PSTV\PSTVOS2.EXE
Parameters: [unit number] [/MAX] [/MIN]
Working directory: C:\PSTV
Program Type: Presentation Manager
b. If you are running OS/2 Version 2.0, create a program templete
in the folder of your choice. Open the settings for the
program and set the following properties.
Program tab:
Path and file name: C:\PSTV\PSTVOS2.EXE
Parameters: [unit number] [/MAX] [/MIN]
Working directory: C:\PSTV
General tab:
Title: PS/2 Television
C. If you or the installation program made changes to the
CONFIG.SYS file, shutdown OS/2 and reboot your machine
to make the changes active.
5. If running Microsoft Windows 3.0 or 3.1.
A. Add the following to a menu of your choice.
Program title: PS/2 Television
Path and File name: C:\PSTV\PSTVWIN.EXE [unit number] [/MAX] [/MIN]
B. If you are running Windows in 386 Enhanced mode and did not
have the installation program update the SYSTEM.INI file,
do the following:
a. Edit the SYSTEM.INI file (usually in the \WINDOWS directory)
and add the following line to the end of the [386Enh] section.
DEVICE=C:\PSTV\VPSTVWIN.386
b. You must exit and restart Windows for the change to SYSTEM.INI
to take effect.
Command Line Parameters for OS/2 and Windows Control Panels:
============================================================
The command line parameters for the OS/2 and Windows control panel modify
how the control panel operates. All parameters are optional.
Option: Description:
------- ------------
unit number Number of the unit to control. If this option
is not used, the control panel will control the
next available unit.
/MAX The control panel will start maximized (or full screen).
/MIN The control panel will start minimized.
Microsoft Windows Real Mode Considerations
==========================================
Operation of the Windows version of the PS/2 TV control panel in Real
Mode with either Small or Large Frame EMS is unsupported. You should
run Windows in Real mode with out expanded memory support (EMS),
Standard mode or 386 Enhanced mode.
Operational Changes
===================
The last position of the application window, along with the last keypad
style used are saved in the System Initialization file when the OS/2 or
Windows control panel is shutdown. These values are used the next time
the application is started.
If multiple PS/2 TV units are attached to the system, the last position,
keypad style and personalization options (PS/2 TV Speaker, PIP See Thru,
and Icon Sound) for each unit are saved in the System Initialization file.
Each unit may have its own settings which are used the next time the control
panel is used with that unit.
You may not fine tune channel 0 (the external input). The tuning scroll
bar is disabled when the PS/2 TV is tuned to channel 0.
The Mute button will remain locked in a 'pressed' position when the mute is
ON. When mute is off, the button will appear normal.
If your PS/2 TV PIP appears to 'overhang' the border on one side of your
desktop screen, or the PIP does not center correctly in the PS/2 TV window,
you may need to adjust the PIP location. The Settings panel contains a new
'PIP Adjustment' control to horizontally shift your PIP in the window frame.

Add the following after the last sentence in the Comments section:
The high order bit of the ASIC level byte indicates what frequency tuning
table the PS/2 TV has been tailored to use. If the bit is set to 0, the
standard North American frequencies are being used. If the bit is set
to 1, the standard Japanese and Korean frequency table is being used.
Additional DOS Utilities
========================
The MULTITV application is a DOS based utility that supports multiple
PS/2 TVs. This program provides an easy method for controlling multiple
PIPs in situations where monitoring multiple images is required.
Note: The MULTITV application provides no method to control the video quality
settings or active channel list of the IBM PS/2 TV. These should be set
prior to executing the MULTITV program.
Keyboard Controls:
Key Action

F1 - F4 Sets the active unit to the respective unit number.
F1 for unit one, F2 for unit two, etc.
1 - 9 Sets the channel of the currently active unit.
Requires the user to enter 2 numbers to change the
channel. For example, enter 05 for channel 5.
Page Up Changes the channel of the active unit to the next
higher channel in the active channel list.
Page Down Changes the channel of the active unit to the next
lower channel in the active channel list.
End Toggles the mute status the the current unit.
Ctrl-End Toggles the permanent sound setting of the current unit.
If set, the sound of the unit will not be turned off
when the focus changes to another unit.
Home Makes the current unit display a full screen image.
If the current unit is already full screen, the
Home key reduces the image to PIP size.
+ Increases the volume of the active unit.
- Decreases the volume of the active unit.
Alt-X Exits the program.
Mouse Controls:
If a mouse is connected to the PS/2 system unit and a Microsoft Mouse
compatible mouse driver is installed, the MULTITV application will
enable mouse input. The buttons displayed across the top of the screen
can be used with the mouse to control the IBM PS/2 TVs. The buttons
from left to right across the top of the screen are listed below.
All actions with the mouse are controlled with the left mouse button.

Red Square Exit the program.
Down Arrow Changes the channel of the active unit to the next
lower channel in the active channel list.
Up Arrow Changes the channel of the active unit to the next
higher channel in the active channel list.
Speaker Toggle Mute status. Double clip with the mouse
button sets the permanent sound status.
Down Solid Arrow Decrease the volume.
Up Solid Arrow Increase the volume.
Little Box/Big Box Makes the current unit full screen. Once an image is
full screen, a mouse button click anywhere will
reduce the image to a PIP again.
Active Units One button for each unit is displayed. Set the active
unit by clicking on the button with the square filled
in that corresponds to the PIP you wish to control.
Double click with the mouse button to make the PIP
full screen.
Note: The active unit may also be set by moving the mouse into the picture
area of a PIP and clicking once with the left mouse button. Double clicking
with the mouse button will make the PIP image full screen. To disable the
mouse from entering the PIP image area, start the MULTITV application with
the /TOP option.

The level of software can be determined by examining the LEVEL.DAT file
on the installation diskette.
