BF110D-3 GUNNERY PRACTICE

The Bf 110 D-3, designed for long range
shipping escort, had either two 79 gallon
or 237 gallon drop tanks beneath the
wings. There was also a supplementary
oil tank below the fuselage and stowage
space for a dinghy in the rear of the
fuselage in case the crew was forced down
over water. Additionally, ETC 500
carrier racks (for bombs) could be fitted
beneath the fuselage. Other than these
small changes, the Bf110D-3 was essential
the same as the Bf110C-4, with 4 x MG17
7.9mm machineguns in the nose (1000
rounds per gun), and two MG FF 20mm
cannon with 180 rpg. There was also a
single MG15 7.9mm machinegun on a rear
flexible mounting with 750 rounds for the
rear gunner.
SPECS: Top speed 336 mph (clean) at
19,685 feet, cruise speed 304 mph, range
680 miles (w/o tanks), ceiling 32,810
feet.
TO USE THIS PLANE: To access the rear
gunner, press "G" as you would with a B-
17. The rear gun is a modified top
turret of the B-17, with a restricted arc
of fire. All other gun positions have no
ammo and will not work. To place the gun
on autofire press "A". Just remember,
there is no autopilot!
              YOUR MISSION

Practice making attack runs on a
formation of three B-17s. The best
approach is from the front and slightly
above the bombers, where they are most
vulnerable to your Zerstorer's machine
guns and cannons. Once you've flown
past the bombers, break in a different
direction, and then continue to "jink"
until you're out of range of their
defensive gunfire.

Your BF110D-3 cannot be damaged and has
unlimited ammunition.

Your mission will not end automatically.
You must choose to quit. Please see
your reference guide for instruction
on how to quit, as well as information
on other controls.
