DMP 206 (260-2906) Control Panel Faxback Doc. # 5864

You can control many of the printer functions directly from the DMP 206's
control panel, which consists of two keypad controls and two LED
indicators.

NOTE: When you turn off the printer, any function setting information
stored in the buffer is lost.

KEYPAD CONTROLS:

ON/OFF LINE- The printer goes off line when a paper out error occurs. To
continue printing when this happens, press ON/OFF LINE. The
printer goes on line and prints one more line. Then it stops
and goes off line again. If the printer buffer contains no
data when you attempt to print one more line, the printer
stays on line until you input one line of data to the printer.

To select the 1" skip mode, press ON/OFF LINE while turning on the printer
(See "Setting the 1" Skip.")

LF/FF- Press LF/FF while the printer is off line to advance the paper one
line. Press and hold LF/FF to do a form feed.

To select the font download mode, press ON/OFF LINE and LF/FF while turning
on the printer. (See "Enabling the Font Download.")

LQ/Draft/SSD/HSLQ- To change the print mode, press LF/FF while the printer
is on line. See "Selecting the Print Mode."

INDICATORS:

The following chart shows what the indicators on the printer's front panel
mean.

            PRINT MODE RESOLUTION

LQ Higher resolution than Draft
(Letter Quality) and SSD but slower

Draft Lower resolution but faster
                                    than the LQ mode

SSD Same resolution as the Draft
(Super Speed Draft) mode but the print is
                                    compressed; it is faster than
                                    LQ and Draft

HSLQ Same resolution but faster
(High Speed Letter Quality) than the LQ mode

MODE ON/OFF LINE INDICATOR

LQ Blinks Once
Draft Blinks Twice
SSD Blinks Three Times
HSLQ Blinks Four Times

*NOTES:

-LQ (LETTER QUALITY)-This print mode prints bidirectionally.

-SSD (SUPER SPEED DRAFT)-This print mode is primarily for normal character
printing. If you send graphic information or
                          characters with special attributes
(superscript/subscript, for example) in the SSD
mode, the print result might not be the same as
it would be in Draft or LQ mode. Also, if
you try to print graphics intermixed with text
while in the SSD mode, some of the text might
print over some of the graphics.

-HSLQ (HIGH SPEED LETTER QUALITY)-This is the same resolution as the LQ
mode but the print speed is faster than
                                  normal LQ.
