CTR-89 (140-1104) Recording Faxback Doc. # 6216

We recommend you use normal bias (Type I) tapes, such as Radio Shack's LN
and XR tape.

USING VOICE ACTUATION

1. Load a blank cassette (or one you want to record over) into the tape
    compartment.

2. Set the VOX switch to IN.

3. Adjust VOLUME/VOX SENS for the desired VOX sensitivity.

At the MAX (maximum) setting, the recorder is most sensitive and
requires only a soft sound to start recording. At the MIN (minimum)
setting, the recorder is least sensitive and requires a louder sound
    to start recording.

4. Press RECORD. Recording begins when the voice-actuation mechanism
detects a sound. The ALC (automatic level control) circuit
automatically sets the recording level (the VOLUME setting does not
    affect the recording level).

If necessary, re-adjust the VOLUME/VOX SENS control. You can use the
supplied earphone to monitor recording while you adjust the control.

5. Recording stops temporarily when the sound stops and resumes when
there is sound again. The recording stops automatically when it
reaches the end of the tape side. Or, press STOP to manually stop
    recording.

MANUAL RECORDING

Set the VOX switch to OUT and press RECORD to record continuously. For
the best quality recordings, place the recorder 1 to 5 feet from the sound
source. Recording automatically stops when the recorder reaches the end
of the tape side. Or, press STOP to manually stop recording.
