Alarm System

TURNING THE SYSTEM ON AND OFF

The system is normally on, so that it can automatically arm when you leave
the vehicle. However, you might not want the system to arm for valet
parking or car repair.

* To Turn off the system, turn on the ignition and set VALET/NORMAL on the
control module to VALET. The green indicator lights. The system will
not automatically arm, and you cannot arm it with the transmitter.

* To turn on the system, turn on the ignition and set VALET/NORMAL to
   NORMAL.

SETTING THE STARTER DISABLE MODULE

To turn on the starter disable module, set AUTO/BYPASS on the starter
disable module to AUTO. When the system is armed, the disable module turns
off the vehicle's starter.

You cannot turn on the ignition until you disarm the system with the remote
transmitter. This prevents unauthorized persons from turning on the
ignition.

If the alarm system is not working properly, you can set AUTO/BYPASS to
BYPASS so that the disable module no longer prevents you from starting the
vehicle.

CHOOSING THE SECURITY ALERT METHOD

The SIREN/BOTH/Alert switch, on the front of the control module, determines
the method used to alert you in case of a security violation.

* If you set the switch to SIREN, the speaker horn sounds for about 5
minutes when a violation occurs. The pager does not sound.

* If you set the switch to ALERT, the system sends a signal to the pager
when a violation occurs. The pager receives the signal and beeps, but
the system's speaker horn does not sound.

* Setting the switch to the BOTH position causes the system to send a
paging signal and sound the speaker horn upon violation.

ARMING THE SYSTEM

Arming the system sets the alarm to sound and activates the starter disable
module.

Before you attempt to arm the system, be sure it is turned on.

Be sure your vehicle's ignition has been on for ar least 6 seconds. Then,
turn off the ignition and step out of the vehicle. The system
automatically arms 30 seconds after you close all doors, the hood, and the
trunk. The status indicator's red light turns on.

If you open the hood, the trunk, or any door during the 30-second delay,
the system enters a stand-by-mode. After you close the hood, trunk, and
all the doors, the system restarts the 30-second delay period.

At the end of the 30-second delay period, the system arms.

If you use automatic arming, you have a 12-second entry delay, during which
time the alarm does not sound.

REMOTE ARMING

The transmitter has a range of up to 30 feet. To arm the system from
outside the vehicle, press ARM on the transmitter. The status indicator's
red light turns on and the confirmation tone sounds if BEEP/SILENT is set
to BEEP. This indicates the system is armed.

If you use this method to arm the system, there is no entry delay.

DISARMING THE SYSTEM

The method for disarming the system depends on the method you used for
arming the system.

AFTER AUTOMATIC ARMING

If you open the trunk, hood, or a door after automatic arming, the system
begins a 12-second entry delay. During this delay, you can disarm the
system by pressing DISARM on the transmitter.

If you armed the system with the remote transmitter, you must disarm if
from outside the vehicle. Press DISARM on the transmitter. This disables
the alarm and turns off the starter disable module so that you can start
the vehicle. The green indicator lights and the confirmation tone sounds
if BEEP/SILENT is set to BEEP.

TRIGGERING THE ALARM

You can sound the alarm's speaker horn in several ways.

* When automatically armed, if you open a door, the hood, or the trunk,
when the system was remote armed, the alarm sounds instantly.

* If you press ARM and DISARM at the same time on the transmitter.

* If the motion sensor detects vibrations, the speaker horn sounds after
12 seconds if the system was automatically armed or instantly if the
   system was remote armed.

The alarm sounds for 5 minutes or until you disarm the system. If you
do not disarm the system, the system rearms and the red indicator blinks
continuously, letting you know the alarm was activated.

SOUNDING THE PANIC ALARM

This feature lets you summon help in case of an emergency. To sound the
panic alarm, press ARM and DISARM on the remote transmitter at the same
time. The speaker horn sounds immediately, regardless of the position
of any of the controls.

Note: The panic alarm does not operate when ignition is on.
