PREMMIA LX DOES NOT RECOGNIZE FULL HARD DRIVE CAPACITY

PROBLEM: The Premmia LX system does not recognize drives over 515 MB.

CAUSE: BIOS Version 1.09 or lower does not support large capacity
                drives.

SYSTEMS
AFFECTED: AST REVISION
                PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION LEVEL
                501288-XXX PRM LX P60/3 8 MB 115V All

SOLUTION: To ensure that the system translates the information so that
DOS sees the entire drive, do the following:

NOTE: If data exists on the hard drive, back up the data prior
                      to proceeding.

                1. Update the BIOS to 1.10.
                2. Press <F1> to enter Setup.
                3. In Standard CMOS Setup select drive type AUTO-CONFIG.
                4. Select Advanced CMOS Setup. Press <Enter> twice.
                5. In Advanced CMOS Setup, highlight IDE LBA TRANSLATION
                    Logical Block Addressing).
                6. Press <PgUp> to enable IDE LBA TRANSLATION.
                7. Press <Esc> to exit.
                8. Highlight WRITE TO CMOS AND EXIT.
                9. Press <Enter>.
                10. Press ‘Y’ for YES.
                11. Press <Enter> to save and exit Setup.
                12. Use FDISK to delete all partitions and then recreate new
                    partitions.
                13. Use Format to reformat the drive.

After formatting, the system will read the entire drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important to run Fdisk and then re-Format
the drive when you make any changes to IDE LBA
                      TRANSLATION.
