The Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway, originally part of the 1880s line from East Grinstead to Lewes, is the earliest standard gauge passenger route to be taken over by enthusiasts and is the model for the myriad subsequently launched preservation societies. Originally opened at Shefield Park in 1960, it has gradually lengthened it's route northwards. Now terminating on the outskirts of East Grinstead at Kingscote, only the stately, victorian, brick viaduct and bridges now separate the line from it's intended eventual destination, the main line East Grinstead station.
